Cucumber 'Telegraph Improved' - Seeds

A much improved strain of this popular cucumber. Heritage Seed Variety.

Growing Information

Sow singly in pots February-May. Germinate at 15°C (60°F) for non-hybrids. F1 hybrids can be temperature sensitive, and we recommend temperatures of 25°C (78°F) day and 20°C (68°F) night for optimum germination. Excellent cucumbers can also be grown in frames and unheated greenhouses. (20 weeks maturity). Varieties with Powdery Mildew resistance should not be sown before the beginning of March.

Sowing Information

Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approx. 15-20°C (60-68°F) using a good quality compost. Cover seeds with 13mm ( 1?2") sieved compost (Germination 6-9 days). Transplant seedlings singly into 75mm (3") pots, grow on and plant into greenhouse border or grow bags spacing plants 45cm (18") apart. Keep plants well watered and feed regularly. Plants produce both male and female flowers. Remove male flowers (without embryo fruits) before they open to prevent pollination and bitter fruits.
