Wild Flowers Woodland Shade Mix Flower Seeds
This native wildflower mix is perfect for neglected corners in the shade that have little interest. Scatter the seed in borders, over bare ground and large containers to enjoy carpets of wildflowers from late spring to autumn. The flowers will also provide a banquet of pollen and nectar for butterflies and other insects. In The Shade Mix comprises over 20 species, and may include favourites such as Angelica sylvestris (Wild Angelica), Silene dioica (Red Champion), Viola tricolour (Wild Pansy), Euphorbia amygdaloides (Spurge) and Betonica officinalis (Betony).
The packet contains enough seeds to cover approximately 1-2 square metres depending on how thickly sown.
Growing Information
To prepare for sowing, clear the area of vegetation in advance and cultivate the top 5cm (2"). There is no need to dig too deep as doing so would also bring potentially unwanted weed seed to the surface. In an ideal world, allow any existing seed to germinate and kill/remove the seedlings. Rake over the area to create a fine tilth and sow the seeds lightly on the surface. Lightly rake or tread in the seed. Do not bury the seed too deep as it may hinder germination. Keep moist.
Sowing Information
Sow March to June for flowering in the same year, or September to November for flowering the following spring and early summer.
